COMSHARE SUMMER DAYCAMP is returning to Lochdale again this summer, after a year at Westridge and we are excited for a brand new summer of fun and adventure! The brochure will be coming out before the end of May. Registration night is Monday, June 5th from 5:30 to 8:30 at Lochdale School. Comshare's phone number is 604 - 377-4711 and email is comshare@hotmail.com. Please contact them with any questions you may have.

CLASS PLACEMENTS FOR SEPTEMBER 2012:  During early June, staff will begin organizing tentative class lists for next year. Class placements and staff assignments will not be finalized until enrolment numbers are known in September and student placements will not be available until then. We put significant thought into organizing classes that will provide positive learning environments. A number of criteria are considered such as academic ability, maturity, attitude, behaviour and leadership qualities. We are also governed by provincial class size limits, which will often result in combined grade classes, and limits on the number of students with special needs in each class. With these guidelines in mind, children are grouped into classes.  If you have specific information about your child’s intellectual or social-emotional development that you would like considered, please write a note outlining your concerns and give it to this year’s teacher. Because some teachers will be changing their teaching assignments next year, it is often not helpful to request specific teachers. Although we cannot guarantee a specific placement, we do want to have all available information to help us make good decisions. We need this information as soon as possible. Thank you.

Ripley's Believe It Or Not:  It has recently come to our attention that the most recent edition of Ripley's Believe It Or Not, Ripley's Believe It Or Not: Strikingly True, contained images that were graphic and not appropriate for young children. The book has since been pulled from circulation in Lochdale's library and the school district has been made aware of the issues.  Ripley's Believe It Or Not books have always been high interest and the school will be maintaining its Scholastic version of these books (a much toned down version of the books and appropriate for intermediate readers).  If you should have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call me at Lochdale.
